Usually, people use microwaves for reheating or cooking instant food. But now, we can even bake cakes! This innovation brought so much joy and excitement to dessert lovers, and also mothers. I’m sure you’re gonna love this recipe too. So grab these ingredients from the nearest supermarket and let’s start making your next potential comfort food.

    Ingredients

Since we’ll be making a cake, we need two of the most basic baking ingredients - flour and baking powder. Of course, flour acts as the base and structure of most baked goods. Baking powder, on the other hand, gives cakes increased volume and lighter texture. You may use any variant of flour. Opt for the likes of almond flour if you prefer your dessert gluten-free.

Sugar and milk will give our cake subtle hints of sweetness and creaminess. And like vegetable oil, they also have a lot to do with maintaining the moistness.

A little bit of salt is necessary to enhance the amazing flavors in baked goods. Try checking other baking recipes and you’ll see their importance.

The cocoa powder is gonna provide the sweet and delectable chocolate flavor for our cake. Then for the lava-like effect of the oozing chocolate goodness in the middle, we need some dark chocolate.

    How to make

I've seen this Microwave Lava Cake video in Tiktok and I thought it is cool so I tried making it. It's super easy and fun to do. Using simple ingredients that may already be available in your pantry, you can enjoy a delicious dessert.

In a bowl, whisk flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, sugar, and salt. Add milk and vegetable oil, continue to mix until well blended. Transfer in a microwave safe mug. Insert a chuck of dark chocolate in the middle. Microwave for 70 seconds and serve immediately with vanilla ice cream.

    Pro-tips

Cakes are fun desserts. All you need is creativity and to enjoy making them. You can start off by using different toppings to make it more delicious and presentable. I added a strawberry and powdered sugar in mine, but you can try adding other fruits that you love. Nuts and raisins will work great too! Or try using other chocolates (like M&Ms, yum!) for the lava filling. Just mix and match as long as it satisfies your taste buds. This is the best thing about desserts.
