Ingredients
1kgsquidcleaned and cut into rings
1cupall-purpose flour
4tbspcornstarch
½tspsalt
1tspblack pepper
1tbspgarlic powder
1mediumegglightly beaten
1cupvegetable oilfor frying
Instructions
Using a bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, black pepper and garlic powder. Mix and set aside. In a separate bowl, lightly beat the egg.
In a pan over medium heat, pour the vegetable oil and wait until the oil is hot enough.
Dredge each calamari ring into the egg, then immediately toss into the flour mixture to coat. When the oil is hot enough, carefully put the squid to the oil and fry until crisp and pale golden brown, about 1 minute per batch.
Remove from the pan using a tong or a slotted spoon and place it to a drying rack to cool. Serve with your favorite dipping sauce such as ketchup, aioli or spicy vinegar.
