Suman sa Lihiya Recipe
Suman sa Lihiya is a traditional Filipino sweetened pasty rice cake that is steamed for a period of time in banana leaves.

Wash the glutinous rice
Soak the rice in 2 cups of water and 1 tsp of lye water for at least 2 -3 hours.
Melt the panutsa in a pan with the coconut milk and muscovado sugar.
Heat the banana leaf, this is to prevent it from breaking apart when covering the rice cake.
Drain the rice and scoop 4 spoon full then put it on the banana leaf.
Wrap and secure the rice with the banana leaf.
Tie with a string to prevent the water getting inside the rice when boiled.
Tie the pieces together as shown on the video.
Boil for 1 - 1.5 hours.
Top with the syrup and serve.
