Sinigang na Baboy or Pork Sinigang Recipe

“Sinigang” is a Tagalog term which means maasim or sour. This dish is also a nutritive one for it contains vegetables and spices which make it full of nutrients.

Ingredients

  • 250 g pork
  • 1 large onion
  • 1 large tomato
  • 1 bundle kang kong
  • 4 pcs string beans
  • 2 pcs okra
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp tamarind powder
  • 2 ½ cups water

Instructions

  • Put the water in a pot.
  • Add the tomatoes, onion, taro and pork.
  • Boil for 20-30 minutes.
  • Remove the taro from the pot.
  • Mash the taro and put it back in the pot.
  • Put the string beans and okra.
  • Add the salt.
  • Then the tamarind powder and stir.
  • Cook for another 10 minutes.
  • Add the kang kong leaves.
  • Turn off the heat and serve.
