    Pork Sinigang - If you and your family are very fond of soupy dishes, Sinigang na Baboy is one of the best and is highly recommended. It is a very satisfying recipe which can be served for lunch or dinner and best accompanied with steamed rice.

    This dish is a usual menu by Filipinos on regular days but regular days can be very special with the hot, delicious taste of pork sinigang.

    It is also very famous because it is served in many restaurants and even small carinderias around the country. Filipinos really love this recipe because of its sour and sometimes, spicy soup.

    You can add pechay, a leafy vegetable, long beans, siling haba to add a little spice to the soup, or you can add eggplant. It depends on how you’re going to make your recipe a yummy dish for lunch or dinner.

    Why did I say that? Because the sourness of your recipe will make or break your dish. Sometimes, too much sourness is bad, and lesser is also bad. So, make sure that you will cook it with the exact sourness.

    There are ingredients which you can choose in cooking sinigang. There are already commercialized food items or the ones which are ready-to-use. You can buy them of course in the market or grocery stores.

    If you like it natural or original ingredients, you can use tamarind, It is rich in vitamin C so it’s great for your kids. In choosing the pork meat for this recipe, avoid the parts that has too much fat. But if your family prefers it, it’s up to you.

    In the market, there are already pre-cut pork especially prepared for this recipe so you won’t have to cut it at home. Make sure that it is fresh, so buy only at an accredited meat vendor especially if you don’t have supermarkets near your place.

    The safety of your family should always come first. As a consumer, you have the right to ask or check the meat before you buy it.

    Sinigang na baboy is one of the favorite foods of Filipinos. They won’t pass a week without cooking it for their family.

    It is also a good recipe if you are having visitors during lunch. Make them sweat while eating your delicious recipe, pork sinigang.

    “Sinigang” is a Tagalog term which means maasim or sour. This dish is also a nutritive one for it contains vegetables and spices which make it full of nutrients.

    Ingredients
      

    • 250 g pork
    • 1 large onion
    • 1 large tomato
    • 1 bundle kang kong
    • 4 pcs string beans
    • 2 pcs okra
    • 1 tsp salt
    • 1 tbsp tamarind powder
    • 2 ½ cups water

    Instructions
     

    • Put the water in a pot.
    • Add the tomatoes, onion, taro and pork.
    • Boil for 20-30 minutes.
    • Remove the taro from the pot.
    • Mash the taro and put it back in the pot.
    • Put the string beans and okra.
    • Add the salt.
    • Then the tamarind powder and stir.
    • Cook for another 10 minutes.
    • Add the kang kong leaves.
    • Turn off the heat and serve.
