    Chopsuey Recipe - Are you a vegetarian? Do you love vegetables? Who won’t love veggies? They are very nutritious for they provide us essential nutrients needed by our body. They are good anti-oxidants, too.

    Do you want to trim down your fats? Vegetables are a good answer to that. Dishes with vegetables are good food choices especially if you wanted a healthy body.

    Children usually tend to avoid vegetables but you don’t have to always give in to their tantrums when you serve vegetables.

    You may cook dishes with veggies but make sure that it has meat so that our children will be able to get the nutrients they need. Have you tried this delicious dish which uses different kind of veggies as the main ingredient?

    Well, if not yet, have a try and serve it to your kids. They will surely love it. What is it? It’s CHOPSUEY.

    It is composed of bite-sized, different kinds of vegetables mixed with meat and made saucy using a corn starch.

    There are many ways to make the vegetables still crunchy and colorful even after cooking it. Blanching them is one.

    It will surely preserve the color of the vegetables. In preparing the vegies, you have to be very patient for it might take you for about fifteen to twenty minutes in preparing them. Be careful in using the knife.

    Vegetables should not be over-cooked so be mindful of the time in cooking them. In Chopsuey, you may add hard-boiled quail eggs.

    It will give your dish extra taste and nutrition. Your kids will love it, too. They love eggs, isn’t it? Chicken liver can also be added to the dish aside from the meat.

    It will help in making the dish more saucy. In choosing the vegetables, make sure that they are still fresh. Don’t forget to cook first the carrots for they require longer time to be cooked.

    Many are asking what are the vegetables used in Chopsuey. Vegetables like the cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage, carrot, sweet baby corn, bell pepper are the main veggies that you should use in cooking this dish.

    In the Philippines, vegetables used in Chopsuey came usually in Baguio where these veggies are grown. Baguio has a cold temperature which is good for the vegetables.

    Chopsuey is one of the best dishes and of course one of the most nutritious. Try it and be healthy.

    Ingredients
      

    • 100 g pork
    • 100 g chicken
    • 50 g shrimp
    • 15 pcs quail eggs
    • 250 g cauliflower
    • 250 g cabbage
    • 50 g young corn
    • 7 pcs green beans
    • 1 medium carrots
    • 1 small red bell pepper
    • 4 cloves garlic
    • 1 medium onion
    • 1 tbsp cornstarch
    • 1 cup water

    Instructions
     

    • Pre-heat a large pan and add a cooking oil.
    • Saute the garlic and onion.
    • Add the pork, then the chicken.
    • Add the shrimp.
    • Add salt and pepper to taste.
    • Add the green beans, then the carrots.
    • Add in the cauliflower, then the young corn.
    • Pour the water and simmer for 5 minutes.
    • Add the cabbage.
    • Stir to cook all the vegetables well.
    • Now add the quails egg.
    • Dilute the cornstarch in a water.
    • Pour the diluted cornstarch on the pan.
    • Stir and simmer for 2 minutes.
    • Serve.
