Hmmm, Chocolate Revel Bars. Just hearing its name already makes my mouth water! When you think about it, it is like a typical dessert that you can only buy from fancy bakeshops and dessert shops.

A perfect afternoon snack - chocolate revel bars.

But since you stumbled upon my blog, it means that you’re looking for an alternative. Well, you came to the right place! Because I am about to share to you an easy to follow guide so you can make your own version of this delectable treat.

Revel bars have this super-soft, melt-in-your-mouth goodness that makes them irresistible. At the same time, there is a slight crunchiness and perfect chewiness achieved thanks to the oats. That combination sounds like a match made in heaven. I’m totally up for it!

    Ingredients and Substitute

As a baked good, the recipe will require a little more ingredients than usual. Don’t worry because you can get them in any supermarket available near you.

Butter is very important in several baking recipes. The unsalted variation is the best kind to use in baking. Be sure to follow instructions when it comes to the use of butter because it will greatly affect the final product.

The brown sugar will be the main source of the sweetness of Chocolate Revel Bars. It works better for most baked goods.

Eggs are a must for several pastries. They will be giving your bars the right structure.

Vanilla extract will help enhance the flavor of this dessert. It has the same purpose when it comes to other baked goods.

You can’t make revel bars without the oats. This is what makes these goods different from normal brownies. They provide the dessert with a unique texture and additional chewiness.

All-Purpose Flour works for this recipe. It is the most basic flour that you can literally get anywhere. You may use gluten-free flour as another option.

Adding enough baking powder will help lighten the texture of your bars. While a few pinches of salt contribute a lot to the overall condition of your goods - including to enhance taste and to strengthen the dough.

Evaporated milk adds more sweetness, and at the same time some creaminess. You can put in more sugar if you aren’t using a semi-sweet chocolate chip for the recipe.

Then semi-sweet chocolate chips for some chocolate goodness!

Adding some chopped walnuts is the secret to achieving crunchy revel bars. They make them healthier too.

Let's go make some Chocolate Revel Bars

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9x9 inch square baking pan.

In a large bowl, beat together the butter and brown sugar until fluffy. Mix in eggs and 2 teaspoons vanilla.

In a separate bowl, combine oats, flour, baking soda, and 1 teaspoon salt; stir into butter mixture. Set aside.

In a saucepan over low heat, heat sweetened evaporated milk, chocolate chips, 2 tablespoons butter, and ½ teaspoon salt, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat. Stir in walnuts and 2 teaspoons vanilla.

Put ⅔ of the oat mixture into the bottom of the prepared pan. Spread chocolate mixture evenly over the top, and dot with the remaining oat mixture.

Bake for 30-35 mins. Allow the Chocolate Revel Bars to cool on a wire rack, then cut into bars.

How to store your favorite sweet

Like other baked goods, storing revel bars is just as vital. You should never forget to leave it to cool at room temperature before planning to store it or freeze it. But if you happen to want to freeze it, this is what you should do.

Freezing the Chocolate revel Bars will require a little wrapping effort. But first of all, they must be cut individually to make defrosting them easier. This will also avoid having problems with cutting later on. Then they should be put in a freezer bag separately so they won’t stick to each other.

    Some pro tips

You don’t have to be a pro to make your own chocolate revel bars. But there are a few tips that you can try to get a more desirable result.

If you can’t find some ingredients from your local supermarket, try visiting shops that specifically sell baking-related products.

Freezing your revel bars can make it last for a month! Just be sure to wrap them all properly so they can be preserved and remain in good condition until you take them out.
