Pork Barbecue Recipe is one of my favorite miryenda. Filipinos love celebrating; whether it be someone’s birthday, Christmas, New Year’s Eve, wedding day, baptism day, religious festivals - you name it! And through all those celebrations, a certain tasty and perfectly marinated grilled food is always present, which is known as the pork barbecue.
Barbecue, or the result of grilling food, may be considered as the very first cooked food that humans have ever discovered due to the availability of nothing else but open fire during the early days. It was a Caribbean Indian tribe called Taino who are said to be the first people to officially make barbecues as meals, and since then the food became a worldwide sensation. However, the creativity and versatility of Filipinos resulted in a special and unique kind of pork barbecue, Filipino style.
Eating pork has earned a lot of discrimination for several years. In fact, until now, the consumption of pork meat is still referred to as an unhealthy practice. Little do they know that pork meat actually contains several vitamins and minerals that are important for specific body functions. Also when cooking pork barbecue, the ingredients used to make the marinade have nutritional values too.
Pork barbecue recipe is a great combination with rice, making it a perfect food to eat during lunch or dinner. But as the Filipino version of barbecue is skewered on a stick when eaten, it became ideal for afternoon meals or merienda. The barbecue meal can be eaten as it is or even better when it is paired together with other foods like spaghetti, pancit, and so much more.
The dark color of the charred marinate and meat. The inviting and scrumptious aroma of the pork being grilled above the open fire. The soft, chewy, and juicy texture of the cooked pork meat. There is a reason why pork barbecue is always a part of every Filipino celebration.
