Beef Asado Recipe is a dish in the Philippines which has no direct relation to other dishes in South America such as Argentina and Uruguay.
They mean completely different and has no direct connection whatsoever but just the name, Asado means barbecue or grill to them while we cook it in a pot and it can also relate to the famous siopao asado.
It has different varieties to us and has evolved throughout time which can be pork, chicken and beef as the based, some may have used other type of meats as well like duck, crocodile or something else but the usual is pork and beef.
What makes it unique is the sauce which is thick, sometimes creamy, sweet and can be sour too. It is served during festivities, birthdays, Christening and other occasions.
Some families who has the time to cook or they have someone cooking for them eat it during lunch or dinner.
A word of warning though beef contains plenty of cholesterol and is not good to be eaten weekly well the same with pork unless you choose the healthy part of it and not the fatty ones.

Beef Asado Recipe
Ingredients
- 250 g beef
- 85 g liver spread
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 2 medium potatoes
- 1 medium onion
- 4 cloves garlic
- 1 small bell pepper
- 4 oz tomato sauce
- 2 tbsp lime juice
- ½ cup soy sauce
- 2 ½ cups water
Instructions
- Marinate the beef, put it in a mixing bowl, add the soy sauce, calamansi and black pepper.
- Put it in the fridge for 45 minutes up to 1 hour.
- Pre heat the pan, put the cooking oil, then sauté the garlic and onion.
- Add the marinated beef and stir.
- Now add 2 ½ cups of water and simmer for 30 minutes or until the meat becomes tender.
- Add the potatoes and let it cook until it becomes tender.
